Launched by the American Kidney Fund (AKF) in November 2020, the Unknown Causes of Kidney Disease (UCKD) Project seeks to improve understanding of how undiagnosed or misdiagnosed causes of kidney disease directly impact patient care and outcomes.
On September 17, 2024, nearly 100 medical and industry leaders and patient advocates gathered at the fifth annual UCKD Summit. This year’s event focused in part on educational efforts targeting community physicians, particularly those at small practices and those who serve suburban and rural areas.
Nephrology Times spoke with Michael Spigler of the AKF about the UCKD Project, the UCKD Summit, and how other AKF initiatives support patients and providers seeking answers about kidney disease.
