The National Kidney Foundation (NKF) has announced the launch of a new interactive, online learning tool for adults living with chronic kidney disease (CKD).
NKF Patient Journey: Chronic Kidney Disease features cloud-based responsive learning and incorporates text, graphics, videos, and other visuals into short segments that allow the user to focus on a particular topic or subtopic.
After completing a short survey including questions about kidney health, such as whether they have been diagnosed with CKD, results from lab tests, and comorbidities, users receive information tailored to their stage of kidney disease and what they need to do to optimally manage their CKD. Featured topics include prediabetes and diabetes, hypertension and heart disease, obesity, CKD stages 1-5, dialysis, and transplantation.
“This innovative tool offers those living with CKD at varying levels of health literacy the individualized health information they need to navigate their kidney health journey,” said Joseph Vassalotti, MD, NKF chief medical officer. “People living with kidney diseases want to know what kidney disease means and what can be done to improve kidney health on an individualized basis.”
Financial support for the tool was provided by Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation.
