Fun in the Sun? Beware of Sunburn If You Take These Drugs

Fourth of July is next week and for many it means a few days of sun, fun, and relaxation. However, the side effect of some rheumatoid arthritis (RA) medications can cause some issues outdoors, including sun sensitivity, skin burns, blistering, and infections, according to a report by Everyday Health.

Some medications for RA and related syndromes can cause photosensitivity, making your patients more susceptible to sunburns and sun rashes. It’s important to make sure you have sunscreen with you, as well as sunglasses and full coverage clothing to decrease your chances of skin issues.
