On July 10, the House Appropriations Committee voted in favor of a bill to provide $185.8 billion to fund the Departments of Health and Human Services (HHS), Education, and Labor for fiscal year 2025, which ends September 30, 2025. That is 11% less than the three departments received in 2024, and a 7% cut for the HHS.
The bill provides $48.6 billion for the National Institutes of Health (on par with 2024 funding), $7.4 billion for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (a $1.8 billion decrease), and $7.6 billion for the Health Resources and Services Administration (a $1.5 billion decrease, including a cut of $18 million for nursing workforce development).
The full House of Representatives will vote on the bill in August.
