Amazon has agreed to acquire a primary care network, One Medical.  One Medical operates an expansive network of clinics and is the largest independent practice in the U.S.  Its direct-to-consumer primary care model has about 8,000 employer clients and offers its services to its employees.

One Medical’s human-centered and technology-powered model and Amazon’s amazing reach and financial strength could be a game changer in the telehealth model.

Neil Lindsay, senior vice president of Amazon Health Services, said, “ healthcare is high on the list of experiences that need reinvention.”
The e-commerce giant hopes to improve how people book appointments and the experience of being seen by a physician, Lindsay said in a statement.
“We love inventing to make what should be easy easier, and we want to be one of the companies that helps dramatically improve the healthcare experience over the next several years,” he said.
This is a developing story.
