This paper sought to develop and analyze an intra-procedural protocol (reduction of lead dislodgement) to reduce the risk of lead dislodgement during implantation of cardiac implantable electronic devices. The analysis included data on demographic factors, clinical characteristics and incidence of lead dislodgement within 30 days of implantation obtained from an intramural database. The control sample consisted of 4,292 leads and the post-intervention group consisted of 2,361 leads. There were 44 occurrences of lead dislodgement in the control (before group) and 10 in the intervention group (after; P=0.014). The authors concluded that “intra‐procedural maneuvers performed to assess the adequacy of lead implantation results in reduced risk of LD.”
