Racial Disparities in medication use: imperatives for managed care pharmacy

Pharmacist and American Managed Care Pharmacy member Stephen J. Kogut, PhD, MBA, Rph, discusses the number of ways  Managed Care Pharmacy can be a tool to address racial disparities in medication use such as medication access for the uninsured, prescription medication adherence, and prescription drug cost. He also discusses the role the Pharmacy industry should play in overcoming the entrenched health and socio-political structures that perpetuate these ongoing disparities. This is an addition to the AMCP’s June 18, 2020 statement titled, ”AMCP Stands Against Racial Injustice,” and is Dr. Kogut’s independent opinion along with his recommendations.
