Should Your Patients Keep Taking Fish Oil And Vitamin D Supplements?

JoAnne Manson, MD, of Harvard Medical School in Boston, talks with DocWire News about the recently presented VITAL trial results, which looked at fish oil and vitamin D supplements for the prevention of cardiovascular disease and cancer.

According to Dr. Manson, about 10% of Americans adults take fish oil supplements and about 20% take some form of vitamin D supplement. Should they keep taking these supplements based on the VITAL trial findings? The answer, Dr. Manson said, is complicated and will require more research.
