This study aimed to assess the incidence of atrial fibrillation (AF) during dobutamine stress echocardiography, as well provide a systematic review to estimate AF incidence. The researchers looked at 4,818 patients referred for dobutamine stress echocardiography, 40 in whom AF was observed (0.83%). The combined AF incidence in the review and meta-analysis was 0.86%. Patients with a history of paroxysmal AF and older patients were more common in the patients experiencing AF during dobutamine stress echocardiography. Age and a history of paroxysmal AF were also associated with increased risk for AF during dobutamine stress echocardiography after a multivariate review.
